Nigerian Army Training Allowance And Stipend: Approved Compensation Package And Entitlements

The Nigerian Army provides a training allowance to its recruits and cadets as part of their overall compensation package during their training period. This allowance is intended to support the trainees in managing personal expenses while undergoing the rigorous training required to serve in the Nigerian military.

 

Nigerian Army Training Allowance Breakdown:

1. Recruits: Those who join the army through recruitment with qualifications such as the SSCE (Senior Secondary Certificate of Education) receive the least training allowance. This group undergoes basic training for a period of six months and receives a monthly stipend ranging from ₦9,000 to ₦12,500.

 

2. Short Service Cadets (DSSC/SSC): Trainees who are part of the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) or Short Service Commission (SSC) are typically graduates who undergo more specialized and intense training. The training lasts between six to nine months, and they are compensated with a monthly allowance ranging from ₦15,000 to ₦25,000.

 

3. Regular Cadets: This category refers to trainees enrolled in the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). Regular cadets undergo a longer training period of five years, which includes both academic and military training. Due to the intensity and duration of this training, they receive the highest monthly allowance, ranging between ₦25,000 and ₦30,000.

 

In addition to these allowances, trainees also benefit from other essential provisions such as accommodation, meals, and transportation. These amenities are provided to ensure that the soldiers can focus entirely on their physical and mental training without the distraction of basic living costs.
