Nigerian Air Force Training Allowance And Stipend: Approved Compensation Package And Entitlements

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) offers training allowances to recruits and cadets during their time in military preparation, providing them with financial support as they undergo rigorous training. These allowances vary depending on the type of training and the rank the trainees are aiming for.

For recruits, who are in basic training to become Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs), the monthly allowance ranges from ₦10,000 to ₦12,000. This helps cover basic expenses during the 6-month training period. After completing the training, recruits typically pass out with the rank of Aircraftman or Aircraftwoman.

For Short Service Cadets, who undergo a more advanced military training with the goal of becoming Commissioned Officers through the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC), the training allowance is between ₦15,000 and ₦20,000 monthly. These cadets generally have a shorter training period but are expected to have previous qualifications, often joining after completing their university education.

Lastly, Air Force Regular Cadets, who undergo long-term training at the Nigerian Defence Academy, receive an allowance ranging from ₦25,000 to ₦30,000 per month. These cadets typically spend five years in both academic and military training and are commissioned as officers upon graduation.

In addition to training allowances, Nigerian Air Force personnel benefit from several other allowances, including transport, medical, and uniform allowances, depending on their roles and deployment locations.

These entitlements are part of the broader compensation package designed to motivate and support trainees as they prepare for active duty in defending Nigeria’s airspace.
