How To Share Data On Mtn Using The Mtn Data Gifting Service
Sharing data on the MTN network is a convenient way to support friends and family with internet access. MTN offers the Data Gifting Service, which allows users to transfer data from their balance or purchase data for others. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Method 1: Transfer Data from Your Balance
- Dial *131# and select option 6 for "Data Gifting."
- Choose option 1 to "Transfer from Data Balance."
- Enter the recipient's MTN phone number and the amount of data you wish to send.
- Confirm the transaction to complete the process. You can transfer up to 5GB daily.
Alternatively, use the USSD code:
- *312*Recipient’s Number*Data Amount#
For example: *312*08123456789*500# to send 500MB.
Method 2: Purchase Data for Someone
- Dial *312*Bundle Code*Recipient’s Number# or dial *312#, select option 8, and follow the prompts.
The data will be deducted from your airtime balance and credited to the recipient
Method 3: Request Data from Someone
- Dial *312# and select option 8, then choose option 3 for "Request Data."
- Enter the MTN number of the person you are requesting data from.
- The recipient will be notified and can choose to share data with you.
Things to Note
Data sharing is limited to MTN users only.
You must have at least 50MB remaining in your data balance after transferring.
Data transfers can range from 50MB to 5GB per day.
