SHOULD WE CALL IT RETIREMENT PLAN?
A Nigerian in the United Kingdom some months back asked about what Farming or crop he could invest money into and I kept talking about cassava and some others.
But I recently did adequate research into fruit crops and I discovered that Coconut farming is underrated.
From the leaves, to the fruits to the fruits wastes products are as important as every other thing we see in palm trees.
A plot of land will comfortably accommodate 16 coconuts , meaning an acre will accommodate about 90-96 Coconut trees.
Some very good breeds start fruiting in next 3-5 years and on average of fruiting, a tree gives 80-150 fruits per season if well taken care of and fertilized and with good water management.
Having two acres or more of this can give you more than 180 trees and the projection of the market is that 1 coconut in next 4 years will be about N1500 if not more than that.
A tree will give you on average of about N1500(100) , that is N150,000.
Per acre is about 14M naira plus per year of well managed.
So if you are a young adult staying overseas and need something to hold your money, make adequate research about Coconut, the market is huge and the demand is projecting high, low risk ofcus.
