University Of Lagos Admission Requirements: Apply To Study In Unilag

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is one of Nigeria's most prestigious and sought-after institutions of higher learning. As an academic hub known for its excellent facilities, robust programs, and vibrant campus life, gaining admission into UNILAG is a goal for many students. However, to secure admission, applicants must meet certain requirements and follow specific procedures.

General Admission Requirements

The University of Lagos has specific admission requirements for undergraduate applicants. These requirements are based on the type of program the student intends to pursue (degree, diploma, or foundation programs) and are categorized for different admission routes: UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) and Direct Entry.

UTME Admission Requirements:

Applicants must have at least five (5) credit passes at one sitting in relevant subjects, including Mathematics and English Language, in their Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE), GCE O'Level, NECO, or equivalent examinations.

The candidate must sit for the UTME and score at least 200 to be eligible for consideration.

Candidates must choose UNILAG as their first choice institution during UTME registration.

After meeting the UTME cut-off mark, applicants must participate in the university’s Post-UTME screening exercise, where their scores are weighted alongside their UTME scores.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements:

Applicants who hold an Advanced Level (A-Level), OND, NCE, or HND certificates can apply for Direct Entry admission.

Candidates must have at least two A-Level passes (or its equivalent) in relevant subjects, in addition to five credit passes at the O-Level.

Direct Entry applicants are also required to participate in the university’s screening process.

Application Process

Prospective students are required to complete their application online via the UNILAG portal. The Post-UTME screening form, which is usually released after the UTME results, can be accessed on the university's website. Applicants must pay a non-refundable fee for the form, fill in the necessary details, and upload all required documents. After the screening process, the university will release a merit list and supplementary lists for admitted students.

Conclusion

Admission into the University of Lagos is competitive, but by fulfilling all the academic and procedural requirements, applicants increase their chances of gaining admission into this prestigious institution.
