Questions to my pastor

"Pastor, ever since my man of God said no evil can touch him, there has been fear in my heart. How do I deal with this fear?"

Trust me, that kind of fear isn't peculiar to you. It's common among believers who don't have a solid foundation in the word of God or who do not have a spiritual understanding of what the man of God said. Even till date, there are certain things that my mentors say that instantly put fear in my heart. That fear is a statement that I'm not yet in the level of my mentor, and I may not be able to endure a challenge.

There are believers who are currently unsettled in their heart because of a bad dream they had during the night. Some of them will even tell you that they're afraid of the dream. It's all an indication that they have not understood something about their Christian faith. Let me give you a solution to that from scriptures.

    2 Peter 1:

    2. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.

Did you see that? So the reason why your man of God could make that kind of statement is because he's operating in a superior dimension of grace that has put great peace in his heart. The more he knows God through His word, the more he has peace over evil occurrences. There's something you can know about God that gives you peace of mind.

Personally, there were times when I'd be very worried whenever I had a bad dream, but now, there's no bad dream that shakes my heart. And that's because I know something about God that has put peace in my heart. My dreams do not determine the outcome of my life, it is God's word that does.

The devil only has physical access to your life when fear is present in your heart, so all those bad dreams or the weird noise coming from your roof every night, they're just to put you in a state of fear. If you won't let fear in, then nothing can touch you, no matter the dream or even the noise. Just because he's a roaring lion doesn't mean he's actually a lion. Ofcourse, the roar of an actual lion should scare you, but definitely not a wannabe lion. Just incase you don't know the meaning of wannabe, it means someone who wishes to be someone or something else, but lacks the qualifications or talent; an overeager amateur. Did you see that? He lacks the qualification to actually be a lion. He's just an over eager amateur.

The moment I knew this, I entered into rest, such that nothing can put me in a state of unrest. I remember when my wife was going to give birth to our first child, she was in so much pain when labour started, and all she kept saying was pray for me. Yet, with the obvious reasons for unrest, I was very restful. God had since given me a word about the birth of the child, and that gave me peace, despite what was happening.

In Hebrews 4:3, the bible says, "For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world". This simply means that if you feel unrest at any point, then you've not fully believed in that area. So instead of allowing the fear or unrest to escalate into a problem, meditate on God's word to enhance what you believe.

God wants you to be in a state of perfect peace at all times. He doesn't want your mind worrying about the devil and what evil he can bring into your life. Isaiah 26:3 says "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee". God can keep you in perfect peace through his word, but that's if you'd take studying and meditating on His word seriously. Stop giving an overeager amateur a chance to run your life through fear. Amateurs are known to cause a mess when entrusted with responsibilities.

Let me give you examples of how I tackle bad dreams or thoughts that proposes the occurence evil. I simply remember and declare my confidence in God through scriptures like:

    Psalm 121:

    7. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

    8. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

    Isaiah 27:

    3. I the LORD do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

Look at that! The Lord is my Keeper, and He waters me every moment. And just incase hurt has been programmed for me by anyone or anything, He protects me night and day. I honestly feel charged even as I'm explaining it to you. If God is busy watching over me, why should I be bothered about a dream or an unusual noise, or even a threat of evil? He shall preserve me from all evil, both in my going out and coming in. He will even preserve my soul. In other words, He won't let anything negatively influence my mind, my will and my emotion. Wow! So the devil knows this, that's why he wants us to break that wall of protection by admitting fear. He knows he can't get through except you break the protection.

So that's it! Seek revelation from scriptures until you enter into rest. As long as there's still unrest, then there's inadequacy of revelation.

I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.

Remain ever blessed, in Jesus precious name!
