There was a man named Job who lived in the land of Uz. He was blameless, a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil.
He had seven sons and three daughters. He owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred teams of oxen, and five hundred female donkeys, and he employed many servants. He was, in fact, the richest person in that entire area.
Job was very rich that Satan went for permission in other to torment Him. When God allowed Satan, everything just crumble in Job's life just a day.
I want to use the aspect of Job's life to explain something. I'm afraid sometimes because most of us are not ready to serve God. When I read the book of Job, I'm perturbed on how this man survive those season. Based on calculation, Job's suffering lasted for eight months.
Now let us bring this story to context. Remember Job was the richest man in His days yet He still served God. Not only did He serve God, He also commanded His children to do the same.
In this aspect I'm afraid because many of us pray harder when things are hard but we relent when things becomes easier. Is hard to see a man with wealth in our generation seeking God the way Job did.
However, everything this man had disappeared just a day. Could you imagine? The cattle, the oxen, the children; everything disappeared in one day.
Now let me ask you, as much as you are seeking God and things are hard, when things get better, are you still going to seek Him. Everything was gone to the extend that Satan also tormented Him with sickness.
I was surprised by the answer job gave during those incidences. He said, Should will expect only good things from the lord. That marveled me alot. How could a man like that sustain such consciousness. If it is in our generation, we will start crying and weeping as usual. “God where are you and all this things are happening to me".
Is obvious that most of us cannot suffer persecution and still retain our vows to God. I see alot of people who call themselves Christain without conviction. When a little wave come, they will start blaming God and everybody around them.
Job knew that God sometimes allows things to happen to us in other to build our character, strength, patience and endurance. He sustained the consciousness.
In those situation, He even made a powerful song that says, “i know that my redeemer liveth".
My advice this morning is to Carry that statement that Job made in our heart. That statement that says we shouldn't expect only good things from God. Whether we see persecution, trials, troubles and reproaches; we know that our God will see us through and deliver us.
We will never back down on the battle. Whether the enemy is winning - we know that He who is with us and in us is stronger and He has the victory. As a matter of fact, we will win.
If we are broken seven times, we will rise up eight. Like a wounded lion we will fight till we finish the race. Nothing can be able to separate us from this Love that Christ had for us. Job knew that, and He never back down. He won the race because He knew that our redeemer liveth.
Know for sure that the christain race is do or die. Don't start and never finish. Satan will mesmerize you. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
